◆表現
【What makes you think so?】
Why do you think so? と聞くこともできますが、かなりダイレクトな質問となり、また相手がそのように考えること自体を批判しているふうにも聞こえかねません。What という無生物を主語にすることで、ダイレクトでなく相手への配慮を示した言い方となります。
